Take me to The Arcade

I had a chance to visit Cleveland this past weekend for the Frozen Diamond Faceoff, an outdoor Ohio State/Michigan hockey game. The Buckeyes got owned, but it didn’t stop a great weekend from being had.

Mike, James, and I took a short walk around a Cleveland marvel of architecture called The Arcade. It currently is owned and operated by Hyatt, and is the home of the first Hyatt Regency. Odd fact. Opened in 1890, the four story lighted court is bookmarked by two nine story towers. The first two levels are open to the public and contain a bevy of retailers and food purveyors. The top two levels, which I covertly snuck into, has rooms available for rent. Not by the hour. Very cool.

It was Sunday and apparently all of the stores in The Arcade take God’s day very seriously. While this made for a poor shopping experience, it made taking pictures of the expanse a quiet, peaceful, and relaxing experience…minus my death defying covert operation to get to the upper floors. The only other people to speak of were some like minded photogs, which you can see sprinkled across the snaps.

When you get to Cleveland, stop in. When you’re done, take the short walk to 4th Street and grab a bite at The Green House Tavern. Two things must be had. If it’s cold out, get the “All Ohio Toddy”…just trust me on that one. Second, the “Buttered Popcorn Pot de Crème”. As the kids like to say, OMG.
