When you are two...
When you are two and cute, every one wants a piece of the action! This year at Christmas, Lucy really seemed to bond with her cousins. I couldn’t get her to high five me, but David, Brian and Julia sure faired pretty well! These few pictures where snapped while David and Rick were building the bobsled course. Cousins. Hug? Success!

If you build it, they will have fun...
Corner 1. If you were fortunate enough to grow up in some of our more northern states, you know that sledding is something you have the pleasure of doing for a good 3 months of the year. My brother and I were lucky enough to grow up on a small hill in Mansfield, Ohio. This hill gave us unfettered access to the best sledding in the ‘hood. Eject! Even with all of this great fortune,...

It's almost time...
It’s almost time… Miss Davis is wrapping the final gift of Christmas…a little something for Julia. I can’t tell you what it is…yet. Merry Christmas!

Presentation.
Presentation. Jen and I stopped by the North Market today for some Lan Viet Pho; It was quite delicious. Full of meat, noodles and broth, we made the usual loop around to see all of the merchants before leaving. As we made it to The Fish Guys, I saw the interesting presentation above. A slightly more appealing presentation came in the form of the supremely crafted latte I had from A Touch...

32 Rooms that have no snow....
A good read… In German Village? Wanting a book? Love to read outside (when it’s not snowing)? Stop by The Book Loft and check out their 32 rooms of glorious independent book goodness. They are one of the many small businesses in German Village that make a visit worth the trip, and living here a joy. Oh, and they’re open until 11.

Nobody.
Nobody. The Christmas Tree lot at St Mary’s didn’t have too many folks wondering around in the snow on Sunday. At first I thought that the snow, wind and cold kept people away, it turns out they just don’t sell trees while a little thing called mass is going on. I’m not Catholic, so I wasn’t supposed to be there. *whew* I will not speak to where Jen was, but...

Finally, some snow...
Ahhh, the joys of the first snow. I got a bit of new gear last week, so I have been a bit anxious to get out and use it…today provided a nice opportunity. I headed out a bit early (we ended up with 4 inches), but I am hoping this will be one of many such occasions. St Mary’s Baking away. This is the side of Pistacia Vera, a bakery here in German Village. If I am not mistaken,...

Coffee makes the world go 'round...
Anyone who lives, or has lived, in Munich surely knows the joys of all things Dallmayr. I have been to their store on Dienerstraße just down from Marienplatz, twice, both times leaving in awe. Not just in awe of the variety of expertly crafted creations, but in the tradition and history that is palatable amongst hundreds of people hustling to pickup up life’s necessary luxuries. The store...

Big Red...
That’s a lot of red… I am slowly, very slowly, making my way through the pictures from Germany (and Austria). I’m a little slow in posting most of them because there are great stories around them, and I’ve just not the time to type them up yet. Anyway…since there isn’t much to say about these, here they are…. These photos were taken in the same...

It's the Village Lights
Here on the south side of Columbus, in German Village, we have an annual Christmas event called The Village LIghts. The Village LIghts It’s put on largely by the small businesses scattered throughout the village and is enjoyed by those who come from all over. The stores stay open late trying desperately to extract your holiday dollars with their handmade crafts, european imports, and...

Men at work...
It probably sounds a bit silly, but one of my favorite things about going to Europe is the road signs. Why road signs you ask? Simple, Legos. All of the road signs look like the ones I know and love from playing with Legos as a kid. It’s the simple things…

...and we're back.
So much for a picture-a-day! Jen and I just got back from a week in Germany and Austria, where I had high hopes of posting something every day, but failed miserably (1 out of 8). We are back in the good old U. S. of A. now, so time to climb back on the wagon. Thankfully I have few hundred pictures from the trip, so I should be good for a few days of posts. This picture was taken in the...
