Take me to The Arcade
I had a chance to visit Cleveland this past weekend for the Frozen Diamond Faceoff, an outdoor Ohio State/Michigan hockey game. The Buckeyes got owned, but it didn’t stop a great weekend from being had.
Mike, James, and I took a short walk around a Cleveland marvel of architecture called The Arcade. It currently is owned and operated by Hyatt, and is the home of the first Hyatt Regency....

All nestled in...
The great tree of Christmas 2011 has finally had to go. The lights have gone dark. The ornaments have been unhung. The star sits atop no more.

Truffula Trees
These lovely trees along the coast line of Dunedin, Florida remind me of the Truffula Trees in the famous Dr. Seuss book The Lorax. It’s mostly in their physical appearance, less so their symbolic nature of the state of the earth and how we choose to inhabit it. On that note, I do whole heartily recommend the book if you need a good kick in the pants to help you “do the right...

It’s just not winter here in Clearwater Beach… 81 and humid, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel nice.

My desk at home always has a hodge podge of things on it…even more so when I am planning for a trip. Camera, Knidle, computer, phone…everything gets a little space.

King's Mansion
In Mansfield we have a great 47 acre estate-turned-garden called Kingwood Center. After Thanksgiving, the family decided to visit and see what might be out for the upcoming holiday display. We were a bit late in the day do see the indoor bits, but we did take a nice stroll around the grounds.
Kingwood Center was built in 1926 for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelley King and opened to the public...

Most of the family gathered for Thanksgiving dinner, only missing the German contingent. They’ll be here before we know it…

Horse face.
A horse tie down on City Park Avenue, just across from Schiller Park. You will see quite a few of these around my neighborhood, for it being 2011 anyway. We also have a few, what I think are, stone troughs.

The Bats.
The best ideas are so simple… These are a few snaps of a few of the paper bats we had set up as decoration for our Halloween party. I take no credit, this was wholly executed by “The Jens”. The idea was borrowed from Pinterest.com and executed beautifully.
This last one is for my computer desktop image…

Oh the horror...
At the Circleville Pumpkin Show show last weekend, I came across something I can add to the list of “Things I never want to see again”. On the main path through town, there is a tower of pumpkins, the show winners, and a few purveyors selling their pumpkiny goods. It looks a little like this…
As Miss Davis and I pushed and pulled ourselves through the crowd, I had the eery...

Leaf hunting.
Miss Davis and I went leaf hunting yesterday in Schiller Park. I blame this little attempt at creativity on pinterest.com and our pending attempt at a Halloween party. We found a couple of promising specimens, and will surely head back to our 23.5 acre neighborhood jewel to find a few more…
I’m hoping the crimson top of this little guy will yield some nice results…

Patience.
At Otto in New York, instead of taking your name for your table, they give you a slip with a city name on it. When your “destination” rolls up on the train-station style board, you are up.
We drew Torre Del Greco and waited about an hour and a half. Batali strikes again, well worth the wait.

5th.
5th.
If you look closely (and use your imagination), you can see the main set of headlights is a MTA bus and there is a taxi parked off to the right.
This is 5th Avenue and 28th street in New York City at around 1 am on a Thursday morning. Intentionally blurry as I intended on using it as the background picture for my computer.

Empire State.
Last week I made a work trip to the city so nice, they named it twice. I always have such grand plans for my camera when I go on these trips, but silly work always seems to get in the way.
I did go out for a walk late one night, tripod and all…
I feel a few more work trips in my future…hopefully I’ll do better next time.

Mmmm, Beer.
This week Jen, Steve, and I spent a couple of hours at the Columbus Microbrew Festival. The festival was another fine event held at the North Market. All of the local breweries were there, from the bigger Elevator Brewing Company, to the new kid on the block, Neil House Brewery.
Jen enjoyed some fruity beers: the Raspberry Wheat at Barley’s, the Cranberry Cider at Neil House, and...

Why they call it Sunset Beach...
Most of my recent posts have all been from Sunset Beach, North Carolina where my family vacations every year. I thought I’d post a few pictures of the area, just in case you were wondering how it got it’s name.
This one looks much better when bigger and on black.

Hide and seek...
Adults are boring…at least usually and in the photographic sense. If you follow an almost-three-year-old around long enough, they’ll do something funny, cute or at least worth of taking a picture. This is especially true if you’re an annoying uncle with a camera and it’s all they can do to just run and hide…

Getting schooled.
The slow trickle of beach photos continues… One of the great things about beach vacations is the endless number of activities the water in and around the ocean offer. We swim, boat, tube, skimboard and dabble in several types of fishing. All of the fishing we do is off the dock on the back of the house, in the fertile waters of the marshes adjacent to the intracoastal waterway. Up until...

Cornhole.
A few years ago Rick, Rick, Rick made a set of sweet Cornhole boards. This year we played more than most, but it still didn’t seem like very much (or enough). Stallion, Ricker, Dad and I played a few rounds… “Rick the Ringer” was able to pull his team to overall victory, but David and I put up a good fight.
“I’ll bet you are wondering if this went...

Look deep into her eyes...
On our way down to Sunset Beach a few weeks ago, Jen and I stopped at Johnson’s Peaches. Johnson’s, for the un-initiated, is a disturbingly busy little peach stand along route 220 in Rockingham, North Carolina. We stopped for some “red” peaches at the insistence of my mother, a botanical mistake which lead to a story I’d rather not tell.
Pops recommended the ice...

Uno!
We had some rain at the beach this year…3 days of it. On the second day, we decided to break out the cards and start a few games of UNO. I think it was Brian’s idea to play, but by the time I took these pictures, he had long bored of us and moved on to something else. I’m happy to report that two Jennifer’s and two Stolfis successfully played several rounds of a card game...
